Should same sex marriage be legal?

Should Same-Sex Marriage be Legal in California?

The debate in California lately is about same-sex marriage should be legal or not? Every culture, community, and politic group speaks of them, but they seem to be divided on how we should come to practice these themes of love, respect and compassion. However, I support same-sex marriage should be legal. People should have the right to marry with whoever they love. It is love, not money, property, etc. Thus, nobody can say that it is right or wrong.

America is the country of freedom. People have the right to do whatever they want under the law, but the law should be more opened. Discrimination should be eliminating from this country by the law. Marriage is a lifelong commitment to be together between two people. They love each other and want to stay together without any problems. We should respect what other people want to do with their lives -whatever makes them happy, as long as it does not hurt anyone. Same-sex marriages reduce social problems; such as divorce, suicide, and children from many countries that do not have family are adopted by gays. The one reason that may cause of divorce is people hide what they are. And then, they married with people who has opposite sex to pretend that they are straight sex. Marriage without love can not be lasted long. It is because of religion, tradition in social that we have believed it for long times ago. It is cause of suicide as well. When family or the other in social against and push pressure on them, and they have no right to do whatever they want. It makes them feel unhappy, and then they think that they had better die. Thus, why don’t we give them a chance to do whatever they want to.

Same-sex couple adopted children from many countries. They help them to have a better life and get an education. Otherwise, nobody knows what is going to happen with those children. Same sex couple can really constitute a good based family, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics that has recognized that gay households can be just as loving and supportive an environment for raising children as the straight kind.

According to the California law; the California supreme court ruled on may 15, 2008 that same-sex couple have the right to marry in California. The decision should be made moot if the ballot initiative to define marriage between one man and one woman passed in November, 2008; (www.ncsl.org)

It is unjust to tell two people devoted to each other, and in love, that they are not permitted to marry one another. The government has no right to set restrictions on an institution such as marriage because it is a personal decision that has no implications on society. Those who claim it could deteriorate our society are only afraid of change. Same-sex marriage should be legal and their commitment should be celebrated the same as any other marriage.

How to cook Pad Thai

How to Cook Pad Thai

I have learned how to cook after I had to live by myself in America. Before I was never interested to learn how to cook, because I thought it was complicated and spend a lot of time to cook. I would rather eat out than cook at home. However I need to save money for my school, then I started to cook at home. My first dish that I cooked, it was rice soup. Taste was good from MSG. I gave a bowl of my rice soup to my friend to tested it; my friend said that it looked good and teased good, but after he finished that he was thirsted a lot. I gave him two big glasses of water and told him that I pushed MSG in rice soup to make it delicious. After that he never eats my food again. But now I know how to cook and I have my own recipe.

Pad Thai is my favorite food, and I think a lot of people know it. It is really easy to cook Pad Thai. You need to prepare all ingredients; rice noodles, bean spouts, eggs, shrimps, chickens, vegetable oil, sugar, fish sauce, chopped garlic, steam onion, chopped pea nuts. You can find everything from Chinese market.
First, Soak noodles in plenty of cold water for at least 1 hour. And then, Combine tamarind paste with warm water in a small bowl and let soak for a while. Mash it and transfer the mud-like mixture to a strainer set into a bowl. Mash and push with a spoon, forcing liquid to strain into the bowl. Scrape off the juice that clings to the underside of the strainer. You will have tamarind juice. Add to it the fish sauce, sugar and lime juice. Beat to thoroughly mix and reserve. Discard the solids left in the strainer. Heat oil in a wok until it is just about to smoke. Add garlic and stir, letting it cook for about 30 seconds. Add chicken and shrimps and stir-fried for 1 more minute. Break eggs into wok and let them fry without breaking them up for 1-2 minutes. While eggs cook, quickly drain the noodles and then add to wok, giving them a quick fold, stir-frying for 1 minute from the bottom up. Add tamarind juice, sauces and continue stir-frying, mixing everything together for 1-2 minutes. Add ground peanuts, bean spout and green onion and stir.
After that, decorate a serving dish with fresh bean spout, lemon and green onion. Transfer noodle to serving dish and top with ground pea nuts and crush chili. Finally, you will get a great dish and you will like it.
Thai foods are my favorite because I grew up with it and it is spicy, I love spicy foods. Usually, the spicy taste in Thai foods comes from chili. It will burn your mount after you eat it, but it good for your health. It is a simply way to cook for yourself.

my college life

My College Life

If we talk about a wonderful memory in our life, I think most people are going to think about their college life same as me. I spent all four years with my family and friends. It was a moment that I have never forgotten it. In addition to, I have got a lot of experiences from various situations that I have done before. It was either right or wrong decisions, but it taught me how to cope with problems. I did not get only a degree from my college but I got friends and I got such a great times. If I can turn back to the past I would back to that moment.

My first year in college was very fun, a lot of activities for freshmen. However, I got a hard time because my daily life totally changed from high school. I moved to dormitory, I got a freedom to do anything I wanted to without my parent permission, but I had to take care of myself. Sometime I would rather ask an advice from my friends than my parent, because I thought they understood me more than my parent. Anyway, we were too young to make a right decision. Most of the time my parent was disappointed in me, but I did learn from that experiences.

I still remembered my feeling, when I was in first year of my college. At that time I didn’t like seniors in my college at all, because they forced all freshmen to do whatever they ordered. They practiced us like a soldiers. When they said “sit”, we had to sit. When they said “stand”, we had to stand. We were not able to talked or asked for anything. One night during in that activity, it was in garden and it had a lot of bugs. I felt itchy on my legs, then I asked for permission to scratched, but they yell at me like I did something wrong. Three of them came to me, and said that I didn’t have enough tolerance and if I couldn’t pass this training, I couldn’t be in this freshmen group. I was scared and cried. From that day, I never ask for any permission from them. Finally, I knew reason why they trained us like that, because they wanted us to have a tolerance for difficult situations.

Freshman’s sports were the one activity that I had a great time with my friends. I was a cheering team. At the last round of soccer game, it was fun and excited. I lost my voice because of that game, I shouted to cheer them up. Basically, I am a bashful person, but in that game I danced sang and played wave with all my friends. Finally, my team won. After that we celebrated at my faculty building, we got drunk all night.

If I have a magic, I will turn back to the college life time. I got a great friends, a lot of experiences, fun and knowledge. It was not only knowledge from text books, but it came from experiences. I have done everything that teenager should be know. That’s why I can stay in America by myself without afraid of any problems. When I encounter with a hard situation, I solve problems step by step until problems solve.

Between You and Me

Between You and Me

Each of us comes from a different country, culture and family. We grew up and are the way we are, because of what we have learned and how we have lived with others and understood other people. Especially, it is not easy to live abroad by ourselves. Sometimes people are difficult; we have to try really hard to get along with them. So taking time to get experience and know people is the best thing for us to do. Therefore, I always tell myself that no one is perfect and then just get to know them. Now I have a chance to know people from Nepal, because in our class more than 75 percent are Nepalese. All of my Nepalese friends study for a bachelor’s degree, but Lee and I study for an MBA. Actually, Lee and I are very similar in everything; such as, our purpose in the future, hobbies, music, and we have both been in the US for two years. Maybe, because we are Chinese-Thai and we have the same culture and life style. Most of Nepalese in the class, they have been in the US for almost a month. Thus, they are new and still need more time to learn American culture. I like to listen to music and talk on the phone when I have a free time, same as them, But Bijay likes Rock music and Kritika likes R and B, Hip Pop and Rap, all of which I do not like. However, all of us think that we have so many things different from the US. For instance, culture, people, transportation, food and even the way they build houses. After graduation, I would like to do my own business same as Bijay and Lee. Biswajung wants to continue study in political science. Kritika plans to find a good job that is suitable for her. The other thing that I want to talk about is if I became a world leader, I would like to force countries that own oil to produce more oil and decrease the price, so we could solve the world economic problems. Otherwise, every country will encounter economic problems and people will have a lower quality of life. On the other hand, Bijay and Kritika are concerned about world peace. But, Biswajung and Lee would love to help poor people by creating opportunities for them to study, work and get food. All the above tells a little about us, so we have some differences and some similarities. But we are all at Lincoln University, and we are friends. Now we can share our experiences and learn about eachother’s culture. The most important thing for us is finishing our education and then following our goals. Beyond that I am going to do my best, and whatever happens I will agree with that result.
